Basic Roads [8-12 h]

Purpose: the course provides essential notions to plan alignment, profile and cross section of a linear infrastructure (road, railway, canal, drainage, etc.) with CIVIL Design.

Main subjects:
- creation of tridimensional terrain model;
- alignment planning and verification according to regulation;
- longitudinal profile planning and verification;
- cross sections planning and material computing;
- practical exercises.

Advanced Roads [4-12 h]

Purpose: the course is addressed to those who already handle basic CIVIL Design commands; its purpose is a deeper knowledge of the program, with particular regards to profile and cross sections customizing. Basic Roads or a good knowledge of the essential commands is required.

Main subjects:
- parametric cross sections;
- advanced functions for profiles and cross sections for intersection planning;
- creation of infrastructure 3D model;
- visibility diagrams;
- discussion of plannings made with CIVIL Design.
- practical exercises.

Topography and Geodesy [8-12 h]

Purpose: the course provides essential notions of the software employment as regards to cartographic systems as well as elaboration and texture of topographic tacheometric surveys.

Main subjects:
- cartographic systems and WGS 84;
- employing of GPS data for framing network;
- rectilinear local systems and coordinates conversion between cartographic systems;
- methodologies for survey computation – compensation to least squares;
- methods of measurements control;
- practical methodology of survey drawing;
- practical exercises.

Cadastral topography [5 h]

Purpose: the course provides a general outline of the software employment as regards to the assumption, elaboration and handling of a cadastral survey and to Pregeo procedures.

Main subjects:
- general outlines about “survey” command;
- data importing and note-book handling;
- drawing and note-book modifications;
- data exporting and handling related to Pregeo;
- creation of autoallestito;
- making of updating proposal and of cadastral monographies;
- practical exercises.

Hydraulics – Watersheds [8 h]

Purpose: the course gives all the notions for the correct use of commands in order to handle issues concerning watersheds.

Main subjects:
- general outline about digital terrain models and contours handling;
- description and employment of commands related to watershed issues;
- precipitation handling;
- creation of a channel alignment an extraction of profile and cross sections;
- data importing and exporting from and to Hec -Ras;
- creation of a flooding digital model starting from Hec-Ras data;
- practical exercises.

Hydraulics - Aqueducts [8-10 h]

Purpose: the course provides the notions for the correct employing of commands concerning the handling of an aqueduct network with CIVIL Design and the handling of a network with Epanet support.

Main subjects:
- insertion of a network with CIVIL Design, internal handling and computing;
- profiles extraction and structures handling;
- geometry exporting and importing from/to Epanet;
- importing of the results and visualization;
- creation of the profile starting from Epanet data;
- drawing of 3D piezometric;
- practical exercises.

Railways [8-12 h]

Purpose: the course provides an outline of the program employing for new railway planning and for existing line optimization to minimum movements.

Main subjects:
- essential workflow of railway planning up to volume computation;
- optimization of an existing alignment in authomatic and/or interactive way;
- altimetry optimization;
- making and analysis of movements layouts and pentametering;
- practical exercises.

Territory [6-10 h]

Purpose: the course provides notions for the use of raster and vectorial cartography for territorial planning and for the making of 3D models.

Main subjects:
- handling and georeference of cartography raster images;
- mosaic representation, joining and editing of raster images;
- use and handling of numeric cartography;
- creation and handling of 3D models in AutoCAD environment;
- model analysis, extraction and analysis of profiles and cross sections;
- practical exercises.

Modelling (Quarries, dumps and 3D models) [6-10 h]

Purpose: to acquire notions for the creation and handling of 3D models of quarries, dumps or other, oriented to the work computing.

Main subjects:
- creation and managing of 3D models of territory in AutoCAD environment;
- model analysis, extraction and analysis of profiles and cross sections;
- analysis of plan profiles and volume computation with sections or prismoids methods;
- creation of visual presentations;
- practical exercises.

Road regulation [8-10 h]

Purpose: the course provides an analysyis of current road regulation, with particular regards to DM 5/11/2001, concerning suburban roads and to DM 19/04/2006, concerning the making of road intersections. Practical examples are provided, with particular reference to the use of CIVIL Design.

Main subjects:
- suburban road planning with reference to DM 5/11/2001;
- road intersections planning with reference to DM 19/04/2006;
- practical examples and regulation application with CIVIL Design.
